Hi, I am Elysha Hughes, Safeguarding, Attendance and Family Support Lead here at The Heights Academy. Part of my role is to provide support and advice to the families I work with in school. At The Heights Academy, we believe in the power of community and the importance of nurturing our children’s potential. Our staff team is dedicated to creating a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. We encourage children to grow into respectful citizens, confident individuals, and successful learners by providing care, understanding, and encouragement tailored to their individual needs, helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
We recognize that parents and families play a crucial role in this journey, and we are committed to engaging and empowering you every step of the way. Whether you’re seeking advice, support, or resources, we are here to help you build strong relationships that foster growth and development.
Your privacy is paramount. All advice and support offered will remain confidential, with the understanding that any safeguarding concerns will be addressed in line with our school’s safeguarding and child protection policy. Together, let’s create a nurturing environment where our children can flourish and our families can thrive
In school, early help is a supportive approach designed to identify and address concerns at an early stage to help pupils and their families. Schools can offer meetings to discuss attendance, provide emotional and wellbeing support, and coordinate with parents or carers to explore any additional early help needs. This collaborative process aims to ensure children receive the right support as soon as possible, helping them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
We will focus on enabling our pupils to:
- Enjoy and achieve
- Build resilience and confidence
- stay safe
- Have a voice and be heard
- Encouraging and supporting positive peer relationships
- Attend school following our Inclusive Attendance program
We may not have all the answers, but we are here to provide support and advice with:
- Sign positing and information about services within local area
- Family support and in school Early Help
- Supporting to access these (Referral process etc.)
- Improving school attendance
- Providing emotional support
- Providing internal support available in school
