INSET Half Days
The Heights Academy will have an extra 5 days of staff training per year from September 2025 onwards, making our total staff training day capacity 10 days in each school year.
The additional 5 days will be taken as 10 half days, in the afternoon, and school will be shut to pupils on those afternoons.
The 10 half day training afternoons will be:
Autumn Term:
Friday 12th September 2025
Monday 13th October 2025
Thursday 20th November 2025
Monday 8th December 2025
Spring Term:
Wednesday 28th January 2026
Tuesday 3rd March 2026
Monday 23rd March 2026
Summer Term:
Thursday 30th April 2026
Friday 5th June 2026
Monday 15th June 2026
On those 10 days and on those days only, we will change the school day, so that there will still be two sessions, but they will be:

Transport will run as normal on all days on the journey to school, or if you bring your child to school, they should arrive at the normal start of the day.
We have planned with transport on each of the 10 days in question for children to be collected at the end of lunch and brought home to you. If you normally collect your child from school, please collect them at the end of lunch break (times detailed above).
This is an important change and step forward for us all, an opportunity for us to professionally develop staff colleagues, which will benefit your children over time. We firmly believe this way forward is in the best interests of your children and young people. If we are going to continue improving, so that our pupils have the very best experiences, we must make these significant changes to the amount of training that our staff receive, and we will do our utmost to ensure that it is a successful
