“I founded Neurodiversity Celebration Week in 2018 because I wanted to change the way learning differences are perceived. As a teenager who is autistic and has ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia, my experience has been that people often focus on the challenges of neurological diversity. I wanted to change the narrative and create a balanced view which focuses equally on our talents and strengths.”

~Siena Castellon, Founder of Neurodiversity Celebration Week

Neurodiversity Celebration Week challenges how the public views and misunderstands neurological differences. It aims to promote the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

At our school, we wholeheartedly support celebrating differences and empowering every neurodivergent individual. All pupils at our school are classed as having neurological differences, each one has unique skills and shows great future potential. Therefore we make it our mission to tailor they’re learning journey to focus on their individual strengths, preparing them for life beyond the classroom, and offering guidance where needed.

Celebrating Neurodiversity at our school

To celebrate Neurodiversity Week, we are having a non-uniform day on Friday, where children can wear their favourite clothes to celebrate their individuality.

In Art, the Children are going to be using clay to create something that means something to them and in music they are going to be creating their own music that is unique to them.

They are also all making posters about what makes them unique and we will be making a special display.

We will also be welcoming a very special visitor, Charlie Fogarty. Charlie suffered a severe brain injury after being hit by a car. During his rehabilitation he started playing football for the West Midlands Centre of Excellence Cerebral Palsy team in July 2013. Since then he was selected for the Northern Ireland CP team and he plays regularly for Solihull Moors FC Community team.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming Charlie into our school to share his inspirational story! You can find out more here: https://www.charliefogarty.co.uk
